The Art Gallery of York University presents Art on My Mind 2023, a songwriting, vocal production and performance program for youth and emerging artists in July 2023. Presented in partnership with the Black Creek Community Farm, this program will include songwriting and vocal production workshops facilitated by Jane Finch R&B singer and arts educator Kibra and performance workshops facilitated by hip hop artist Tara Lord. The program will also include a 2 hour live performance showcase presented in conjunction with the Black Creek Community Farm’s annual farm festival. The event features Kibra performing a 20 minute set with a live band along with performances by Tara Lord, and up and coming hip hop artists Zakisha and Dolothegifted. A selected number of workshop participants will also have paid opportunities to perform songs that they wrote and rehearsed during the course of the program, giving some participants their first chance to perform before a live audience.
