Braeburn Neighbourhood Place & BGC has partnered with Arts Etobicoke to host the new and expanded Arts in Summerlea Park! This year, Arts in Summerlea Park will introduce a variety of arts and cultural events including an exciting drumming program that will explore diverse drumming traditions and music from around the world! The program offers the opportunity to participate and learn about the cultural significance of drumming from local artists and explore practices like Indigenous drum making, African hand drumming, Steelpan, Japanese Taiko, Indian Dhol and Brazilian percussion. Community members are invited to work with a lead artist to co-create a temporary, public art installation that will be displayed in the park. To cap off the summer’s activities, the program will culminate in an end-of-summer celebration with a Park Party featuring live performances, free food, public art, face painting, and a variety of exceptional arts activities for a multicultural and multigenerational audience. Bring your own picnic, blankets and/or chairs along! (Limited seating will be provided).
