Nagata Shachu presents “Celebrate Japan in Scarborough!” which will feature a 30-minute hands-on taiko drumming/movement workshop, followed by a 60-minute taiko drumming concert. The program will take place in four Scarborough park locations in June and July. In addition to our thunderous taiko drums, the concerts will feature Japanese bamboo flutes and a variety of traditional percussion instruments. Between songs, members of the ensemble will introduce the pieces, as well as give insight into our instruments and costumes, Japanese culture, and our artistic practice.
