Feast in the East 73

July 6 @ 5:00 pm - 11:00 pm

Feast In The East returns to Prairie Drive Park for its 4th annual free park show. This edition features the installation work of eight artists spread throughout the park enticing audiences to take a deeper look at their environment. Multimedia artist Emily Grace Harrison will create a sculptural figure to inhabit the park grounds. Textile artist Roxanne Ignatius will install a larger than life crouching raccoon. Visitors will be able to duck through the raccoon’s mouth into an intimate tented chill out zone. Sara Maston’s painted mesh panels will depict ghostlike images of the wild, human, and non-human elements at play in Prairie Drive Park.

Performance art collective Still Boys will transform the wading pool into a bowl of alphabet soup complete with floating letters & other ingredients. Attendees will be able to swim in the soup for the duration of the event. Artist duo Khanh Tudo and jes sachse will create movable, nature influenced, 3D plush sculptures that audience members will be encouraged to relocate around the park as they please.

Chef Alan Kobayashi with the help of the local community gardeners will create & serve a dinner menu based on local recipes. It will be halal and include vegan & gluten free options. Dinner will be served from 6pm onwards out of the park clubhouse. Musical performances will start at 7:30pm and feature avant-pop ensemble Bernice, vocalist and sitarist Ami Dang, who mixes electronic pop, noise and ambient sounds with Indian classical traditions, plus one more act TBA.
