From Weeds We Grow: Braiding Ourselves Into Creation
July 20 @ 12:00 pm - 4:00 pm
From Weeds We Grow: Braiding Ourselves into Creation is an interdisciplinary public art community project that explores Toronto’s Rexdale community’s relationship to the environment through the intersections of nature, art, and wellness. Star Nahwegahbo and mentor Lindsey Lickers, Mushkiiki Nibi Kwe, collaborate with emerging Indigenous artists, sharing teachings and reconnecting to the land through multidisciplinary artworks in Rowntree Mills Park. The project continues engagement developed with the local community since 2020 through From Weeds We Grow: Restoration of Relationship.
Hands-on workshops will consist of traditional crafts, while spoken word poetry will be used to name the experience, responding to the prompt provided by local plants and Indigenous teachings. Please contact us to share your accommodation needs.
