From Weeds We Grow is an interdisciplinary public art project led by STEPS Public Art that explores Rowntree Mills Park through artistic, Indigenous, multicultural, environmental and community-based approaches to public space; connecting community members to each other, to the arts, and to the park. Visit stepspublicart.org to learn more about the project, and check out the Web App: https://fromweedswegrow.stepspublicart.org/ to meet the artists and facilitators who share teachings, points of interest, and collaborative artwork. Connect with community storytellers who share their experiences in the park and thoughts on its future, and hear from local spoken word artists that respond to the park through poetry and verse.
Poetry of Rowntree Mills Park is an online workshop series led by local spoken word artist, Zara Rahman, exploring the use of literary devices and storytelling to create poetry rooted in the park with participants’ final creations shared on the From Weeds We Grow Web App.
