As part of their Plant Life project, The Community Arts Guild, in collaboration with ReDefine Arts, is hosting drawing/visual arts and mosaic making workshops in August 2021. Building on last year’s Plant Love project (see website for more details: plantlovearts.ca), Plant Life will focus on the connections to land, community, and/or self that bloom when people garden. Participants are welcome to attend one or more of these workshops.
Facilitated by Community Arts Guild staff member and artist-facilitator Karis Jones-Pard, the drawing/visual arts workshops are inspired by plants, and will be open to all experience levels. Limited art materials will be available for delivery on a first come, first serve basis. If you would like to request art materials, email Joanna Prescod, Outreach and Project Manager, at firstname.lastname@example.org or call at 416-556-8247 at least a week prior to the workshop.
Facilitated by ReDefine Arts, the pebble mosaic making workshops are inspired by the theme of “what else are you cultivating?” Once the mosaic pieces are finished, they will be temporarily installed in Fred Johnson Park and kept at the garden or returned to groups as desired.
On September 18 2021, The Community Arts Guild will present back and celebrate these creations during the Harvest Festival, an annual event hosted by Scarborough Village Community Garden that takes place at Fred Johnson Park in East Scarborough. The Community Arts Guild will be contributing live music, art installations, reusable decor, art activities, and a participatory parade for all attendees to experience and enjoy.
ASL, live captioning, and translation are available upon request. If any accommodations are needed, email Joanna Prescod, Outreach and Project Manager, at email@example.com or call at 416-556-8247 at least a week prior to the workshop.
