Summer Music in the Garden

July 3 @ 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm

Event Series Event Series (See All)

Summer Music in the Garden (SMIG) is an intimate live music experience by the waterfront, occurring most Thursdays and Sundays all summer. This year marks the 25th anniversary of the Toronto Music Garden featuring 18 free performances, including the National Youth Orchestra of Canada, Moneka Arabic Jazz and Nichol Robertson’s Country All-Stars, along with two new commissions performed by cellist Rachel Mercer and Duo Holz. Curated by Dora Award-winning music director Gregory Oh and Associate Curator Rebecca Cuddy, programming brings artists from across Canada and local to Toronto. As Harbourfront Centre marks its 50th year, it’s fitting that Cuddy’s theme for this season is “Celebration.” We invite you to listen to an exhilarating range of music from Middle Eastern Balkan and North African to early and contemporary classical, Georgian polyphony, gospel and jazz. The season begins on National Indigenous Peoples Day on June 21 with The IndigiDivas.

Accessibility: The Toronto Music Garden is a wheelchair accessible park. Summer Music in the Garden concerts include 12 reserved spots for accessible seating on a first come, first served basis. As these performances take place in a park, they are inherently relaxed performances by nature (no stark lighting changes, the audience is free to come and go, the audience may eat and drink, etc.), however, they are not “Relaxed Performances” as the sound is not altered, nor is there a Zen Den space provided.
