Tales & Dances Around The Baobob

July 21 @ 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm

|Recurring Event (See all)

One event on Sun July 22nd 2018 at 7:00pm

Tales & Dances Around the Baobob invites you to come visit the brave Sunsum Dua and his faithful companions Buteadé, the Scorpion; Anpu, the Jackal and Sistrum, the Snake. Join this odd band of travelers as they set off to bring back the rain to the barren land. The Baobab tree otherwise known as the “Tree of Life” is steeped in a wealth of mystique and legend in Africa. In many villages of Africa, folks gather under the « arbre à palabres », a big tree – usually a baobab -where they sit and listen to stories. The story includes call and response, song, dance, live drumming and encourages YOU to fully experience this fantastic journey. This is a family friendly event! Bring a mat/chair/blanket, a water bottle, and sun protection.
