Founded in 2012 by Co-Directors Kristen Carcone and David Norsworthy, TOES FOR DANCE (TFD) is an artist-run non-profit contemporary dance organization based in Tkaronto. Our mission is to share art and connect people through workshops and performances; fostering a community united by shared values of curiosity and collaboration. We contribute to the well-being and vibrancy of our society by creating unique and valuable platforms for artistic exchange/professional development, public engagement, and dance education. Our artistic paradigm is informed by Modern, Contemporary and Improvisation dance practices that have emerged from European lineages of training, as well as meditation/mindfulness, reiki, and Nonviolent Communication. To create sanctuaries of safety, we prioritize leading with vulnerability and attending to the ever-evolving needs of our relationships with artists, participants, and audience members. TFD has presented performances for over 9,600 students and public audience members in the GTA, Ottawa and London, including festivals, mixed touring programs, and site-specific work. Furthermore, we have offered educational classes/programs for approximately 12,800 people (annual programs include Fresh Dance Intensive, Ignite Movement Lab, and our online forum for dance educators).
